Maintenance/ Machine Repair Technicians
Direct Hire - 1940

American Technical Associates, Inc. (ATA ) a Knoxville, TN based technical staffing/search firm, is recruiting the following direct hire/perm positions for a Knoxville area company:

Maintenance/ Machine Repair Technicians
- Assembly Technicians to work on Robotic assembly equipment
- Press Technicians to work on Stamping Presses

HOURS: Varied
HOURLY/SALARY: Hourly
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To maintain and improve, at an advanced level, all equipment
associated with PLC, Robotics, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic installation, repair, and
troubleshooting support to all areas of manufacturing.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY: Responsibility for quality and conformance of product to
customer specifications per control plans utilizing TS16949 & IS014001 documented systems;
authority to stop non-conforming processes and report same to supervisor, Quality Assurance
and/or Engineering department representative

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:
1. Must be able to perform complex repairs without supervision using mechanical equipment and/or hand tools.
2. Read, modify, and make design changes to any mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical prints when needed.
3. Advanced robotic knowledge inclusive of:
a. Troubleshooting and repair of all associated robotic equipment
b. Advanced programming and interfacing with PLC
c. Interface peripheral equipment
d. Ability to learn new robotic systems
4. Advanced knowledge of PLC's
a. Advanced programming
b. Interfacing with multiple networks
c. Ability to learn new controls and automated systems
d. Safety PLC's
5. Advanced knowledge of automated Resistance welding equipment and MIG (metal inert gas) welding equipment. (Assembly Technician)
6. Advanced knowledge of Press Controls systems. (Press Technician)
7. Advanced knowledge of motion controls and equipment.
8. Advanced knowledge of Hydraulic Theory and application associated with Press equipment (Press
Technician) or Assembly equipment (Assembly Technician).
9. Troubleshoot and repair lubrication systems and components
10. Complete understanding of operation of clutch and brake assemblies. Must be able to disassemble and repair clutch and brake assemblies. (Press Technician)
11. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic circuit components.
12. Troubleshoot electrical control systems.
13. Troubleshoot and repair gear, belt and chain drives.
14. Disassemble and repair shaft bearings and seal assemblies.
15. Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic circuit components.
16. Direct others in performing necessary tasks for successful project completion.
17. Lead other team members in continuous improvement projects.
18. Improve ergonomic, safety, environmental and/or quality practices as they pertain to the employees in the plant.
19. Ability to assist other team members in development of personal skills and growth within the department.
20. Maintenance welding and cutting using electrode arc welder, MIG (metal inert gas) welder, and oxyacetylene welding and cutting equipment.
21. Install production and support equipment in conjunction with moderate fabrication and rigging in conjunction with Engineering and Production with minimum or no supervision .
22. Inspect equipment condition utilizing established Preventive Maintenance procedures.
23. Seek continuous improvement opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce waste.
24. Maintain necessary documentation including machine histories, preventive maintenance check sheets, and logbooks.
25. Ability to adhere to and perform all essential safety procedures.
26. Housekeeping and other activities as assigned.
27. Must be able to pass written skills test and practical skills test.
28. Willingness and ability to learn and maintain new equipment with new technology.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
SKILL (Ability to do the job)
Individual must observe all safety regulations to insure own and others' safety; ability to read,
write, and speak English; ability to use precise measuring equipment; basic math skills required;
excellent teamwork skills required; individual to be mechanically inclined, self-motivated and
reliable; ability to work overtime as required; individual must furnish basic personal tools for use
at work. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence is
required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to access equipment to troubleshoot problems; requires continuous standing, climbing, and bending with occasional kneeling, stooping, and crawling; lifting up to 75 lbs. occasionally; gross and fine motor use skills required; visual and audible inspection of machinery required; good
hand-eye coordination; compliance with personal protective equipment requirements

EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED
Hand tools and test equipment; drills, saws, machine shop equipment; portable welding and grinding equipment; precise measuring equipment; forklift; genie boom; overhead crane; ladders.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required.

TECHNICAL TRAINING: Course work in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Pneumatic principal and theory.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Experience in maintaining and improving fully automated assembly equipment (Assembly Technician). Experience in maintaining and improving Hydraulic and Mechanical Presses and all associated equipment (Press Technician).

OTHER PERTINENT INFORMATION
Daily and weekend overtime (mandatory at times) is necessary to keep production machinery
operating efficiently and to meet production schedules. Individuals in this position are
encouraged utilize Company’s Educational Assistance program and pursue technical training
outside of work to enhance their skills. Technicians will perform all other duties as assigned.
